What this is

A local guide to what is on tonight and this week. It is built for the North Carolina coast, where the best deals come and go with the season and often live only on a venue's Facebook post or a chalkboard. Right now it covers 1402 spots, and it grows one town at a time as we can keep each one accurate.

Nothing on the site is for sale. A special is listed because a venue or a trusted local source says it exists, never because someone paid to be on the list.

Where specials come from

  • The venue's own website, menu and social posts.
  • Local directories and tourism sites, such as chamber of commerce listings and event calendars.
  • Local news and community calendars.
  • Photos of chalkboards and flyers, transcribed and then reviewed by a person before anything is added.
  • Tips from people like you, which are checked against a source before they count.

How we check them

  • Every special has a source. The card links to the page that states it, and the wording we rely on is kept with it.
  • Days and times are never guessed. If a source does not say when something runs, it does not show up in “tonight” or “this weekend”.
  • Every listing shows when we last checked it. When a venue's own page stops listing a special, we take it off rather than leave it up.
  • One-time events look different from weekly deals, so you can tell a Saturday block party from a standing Tuesday special at a glance.

When something is wrong

It happens: a venue changes its hours or ends a deal. Tap Still right or Something's off? on any special, or use Fix this or suggest a change on a venue page. Reports are read by a person, checked against the source, and the listing is fixed or removed. We do not promise a time, and a report alone never changes a listing.

Free to list, free to correct. Pick whichever is easiest.

  1. Tag us on Facebook. Mention @happyspotterapp in your own post. The post is our proof.
  2. Use the form. Send it here with a link to the page or post that says so.
  3. Email us. tips@happyspotter.com, with a link or a photo of the flyer.
  4. Message our page. Facebook Messenger works too.

We check every special against its source before it goes on the site, so we can't promise a time. Days and times must be stated, never guessed.
